Name: Ryuichi Tsuyumi
Gender: Female
Age: 22
Tohsu/ Weapons: Water tohsu. Prefers hand-to-hand or with her tohsu, will use a spear or lance when needed.
Appearance: Knee-length blue hair, worn in a variety of styles but most frequently left to flow freely down her back. Cerluean eyes, wears glasses despite near-perfect vision. Average height, slender, lightly muscled frame. Rarely out of her NOA uniform.
Personality: Ryuichi is generally easy-going, and has a huge sense of humor, but takes her job very seriously. She is friendly in her own way to all her soldiers and comrades, but harsh and strict whenever she deems necessary. She is usually quiet and contemplative, which tends to make her seem uncaring and aloof to those who do not know her well. She possess an incredibly bright mind with a knack for science, and can often be found in the research and experimentation labs, or listening in on lectures. An accomplished tactitcian, Ryuichi's strategies are careful and precise, each detail intricately carved to ensure success with the fewest casualties. Utterly patient, she will sit for hours, waiting for the perfect moment to initiate a movement. Though not often involved in direct combat, when personally in comabt the more twisted side of Ryu sometiesm shows through.
NOA is Ryuichi's life. She is unwavering loyal to the Academy, her charges, and responsibilities. She is incredibly single-minded towards defeating enemies and accomplishing her goals, meaning she is not above using underhanded tactics to turn things to her favor. Cunning, but she would never betray one of her own- she would put herself in harm's way before letting one of her comrades, soldiers, or students be injured. Prideful of her role, Ryuichi enforces the rules, but is willing to bend them and overlook others doing the same if they have good reason. The newest recruits are often treated coldly, the Sky Division leader quickly becoming more personable and friendly when she feels her image and high expectations have been established. Though she projects herself as a strict, collected commander, she is a born worrier and takes all precaustions to ensure the safety of her charges.
Incredibly level-headed, it is a difficult and dangerous task to truly anger Ryuichi, but she is easily irritated and will signal her upset by removing her glasses. Independent and self-sufficient, but quite enjoys the company of other people provided they are able to intelectually stimulate her. Honest to the point of brutality, Ryuichi is not afraid to dole out sharp words; though when her position requires, her quick mind is capable of weaving an elaborate, sound lie.
History: Born and raised outside the protective barriers of EDEN, Ryuichi learned to handle and reload a gun almost before she could read, knowing that if the need ever arose even the children would do their share to drive off intruders. It had been outpost 626E of the governmental research facility, a watch-tower to alert the distant EDEN of Atanan movements and measure and record kamui waves. A flock of Atanan attacked as a supply convoy passed the barriers, slipping through the opening and killing many of the resident NOA soldiers. The beasts kept the post under siege, destroying all defenses and any people they could find. The Atanan tirelessly prowled the ruins, and the people trapped within could only hope the next supply caravan would be able to call for reinforcements.
Weeks, months passed with no help, the Atanan easily intercepting and destroying any deployed units sent to assist the outpost. NOA soon deemed survivors a near impossibility and ceased reconnaisance attempts. The Atanan tired of endlessly guarding their broken trophy and disappeared.
Days after the Atanan's waves vanished from the area, a scouting troop discovered two children, a boy and girl, suspected survivors of the 626E massacre. They were taken into NOA custody and admitted to the infirmary with malnutrition, severe injuries and Atanan-wave infection. The boy died soon after.
The girl became a ward of NOA, given the name Ryuichi Tsuyumi. After fully recovering she requested admittance into the Academy, and steadily rose through the ranks to become commander of the Sky Division.
Strengths/ Weaknesses: Ryuichi's intelligence and tactical mind are definite strengths, but the ability to process so much information and scenarios makes her highly paranoid. She is a proficient fighter and leader, but her concerns and instinct to protect her underlings drives her to take unnecessary personal risks to ensure their well-being. Loathe to let another handle important affairs and to admit needing help, Ryu will find herself overworked and exhausted with whatever problem she had been working to resolve growing steadily larger. Insomniac.

-Prompt: Your character is walking down the street and a lower-level Atanan rises and attacks. What do they do?
"Commander Tsuyumi."
Ryuichi stopped her wandering amongst the tumbled stones and tenacious grass, blinking languidly as she slowly brought the walkietalkie nestled on her hip to her mouth. Seemed she wasn't allowed to enjoy a warm sumemr morning without being interrupted. "Yes?" There was a brief pause, soft static grating against the silence of ruined Tokyo. "Atanan waves detected in the fourth sector, approximately 2 kilometers south of EDEN's barrier."
Her brow creased. She didn't like an enemy being so close to her home, so close to those she vowed to protect. If it was closing in on EDEN from the south, chances are the Atanan was intent upon seeing what damage it could do to NOA's crop fields. The walkie buzzed again, the officer's voice once again sounding through the quiet. "Requesting permission to dispatch a unit, ma'am."
A slender, gloved hand rose to delicately pluck the glasses from her nose, tucking them into the pocket of her uniform. Dispatch an entire unit, waste all the ammunition they would pepper the beast with, not to mention the damage a unit's feet would do to the fields on top of an Atanan... Face-to-face, the officer would have been subject to biting remarks, but Ryuichi found talking to a small piece of technology a waste of breath. "No. No need." her smooth voice slid through the silence, seeming to mix with it rather than break it. "I'll see to it." Replacing the device back on her hip, the young woman set off at an easy run, ignoring the officer's protests.
The Atanan was small by standards. Nevertheless, the Commander removed her gloves and coat, neatly folding the clothing before stepping towards her foe. She released a violent wave that brought the Atanan's head snapping towards her, the large, feathered body moving at surprising speed towards the creature that dare defile kamui. Ruichi help her ground, wanting to lead the monster away from EDEN's fields. It approached, a wickidly clawed hand swiping out to rend the body if it's foe.
An easy jump sent Ryu sailing over the appendage, landing easily on a thick shoulder. The stiletto heels of her boot cracked the bony face-plate, driven by a powerful kick. A violent toss dislodged Ryu, the Tensho landing easily on her feet, tohsu ready. Even before her long hair settled again down her back, the earth beneath the Atanan had melted into a hungry pool of mud, tentacles of water ensnaring the writhing creature in an unnaturally pressurized grip. Moving the water from the earth was as simple as putting it there, and the mud solidified beneath Ryu's feet as she lazily made her way to the struggling beast.
Violet eyes narrowed in anger at the creature that had wreaked such havoc on humanity, that had killed so many. Another vicious kick broke the facial plate, blood seeping from the injury as the thing keened out it's protest. A tnedril of water snapped upwards, swaying back and forth in imitation of a snake before plunging into the wound. The Atanan writhed against it's bonds and agony, it's waves frantic and erratic, increasingly weak. The keening rose to a deafening howl, Ryu only narrowing her eyes more at the annoyance.
The woman drew all the water indiscriminately from the Atanan, the sudden surge bringing a torrent of blood and plasma cascading out of the facial rift along with the water. A spastic twitch and the creature was still, the shackles of water sinking back into the muddied ground.
She was calm as ever as she slipped her gloves and coat back on, carefulyl settling her glasses on her nose. A glance over her shoulder at the dead Atanan made her pause. A team would most likely be coming to retrieve the carcass for research, and though she'd eased their job by already draining the liquids, the mud would slow things up. A snap of her fingers brought the water she'd pulled up from the earth and from the Atanan surged up into an unnatural puddle, and a flick of the wrist sent it arching up to shatter and fall in gentle drops onto the nearby field.
Content that the extermination hadn't been a waste, Ryuichi Tsuyumi turned on her heel to return to the NOA compound.
