Ryuichi took a few steps away to let the medics tend to Aset, knowing they would be enough on edge to be bandaging a Commander. The other, potentially more intimidating one, hovering over as they worked might be a bit much. Her shoulders slumped in relief, finally feeling assured Aset would be fine.
Well....now what? Obviously they'd put the games on hold, at least for a day. Let Aset's brain stop bouncing around in her skull and her body replace some of that blood. Leaning lightly on the wall, the Tensho began to peel off her muddied gloves.
The feeling of being watched made her turn, staring back at Aset who looked utterly dumbfounded.
A moment later she was laughing fit to burst, making Ryu frown in returning worry. Had she hit her head harder than the Tensho had thought?
She's laughing at you.
She blinked, looking as confused as Aset had a minute before. Laughing at me?
His laugh was deeper this time, like deep water across rocks, as the kamui tried desperately to contain his mirth.
Houkou....
A cascade of purring laughter splashed through her mind, gleeful waves of tohsu radiating outward and making droplets of water shimmer in the air. Thoroughly irritated, Ryuichi didn't notice the near pout that crossed her face, 'dropping' her gloves to the ground (with unnecessary force.)
Shihihoukousen!
You're still covered in mud, dearheart.
Eyes widening and mouth forming a perfect 'o' of surprise, the Tensho found her attention drawn back to her state of utter disarray.
.... She was covered in mud.
Covered in mud.
Hands immediately flew to her hair, expression slowly falling. That was not going to be easy to clean up. Her uniform could always be replaced, even the boots she paid a bit more than she cared to admit for would probably clean up decently well.
More bright laughter, more condensed water.
Aset's still laughing. At this rate she might break another rib.
She gave the kamui a mental shove, trying to focus on a plan to fix the.... she didn't even want to assign a word to it.
Would you like some help?
Flakes of dried dirt crumbled away beneath exploratory fingertips, but the vast majority clung stubbornly to dulled, tangled, blue hair. It would take remarkable patience to work it all out, sending the water to work on the ends, meticulously up to the roots to gently carry the filth away without doing any damage-
Allow me.
Wait, what did you say, Houko-
Had it not been her element and her own kamui, Ryu was confident the sudden, exceedingly unnatural geyser would have killed her. The column of water fell away in lazy spirals, leaving a very wet, very startled, but utterly clean Ryuichi standing mostly hidden beneath the clinging curtain of her hair.
A few bubbles floated cheerily through the air, physical testament to Shihihoukousen's amusement.
Nearly growling, Ryuichi Tsuyumi did what she could to part her hair and replace her glasses on her nose, waiting, just waiting, for Aset to join her laughter with the dragon's. She'd have to remember to research whether or not it was possible to murder a kamui.

Aset froze in surprise as a geyser engulfed the Tensho. The medics took full advantage of her lack of motion and finished suturing her head all the while desperately attempting to ignore the bizarre happenings of the other Commander.
When the water dispersed, all that remained was the shimmering air and the Sky Division Commander who was too shocked to move and quite thoroughly soaked.
Aset tried to suppress her laughter. She really did. And not only for the Tensho’s benefit; her ribs hurt. Unfortunately for both of them, Aset can’t contain her laughter for anything that was even a fraction as hilarious as the Sky Division Commander’s own Kamui soaking her with a geyser of water so powerful it would have probably killed anyone else inside. Finally getting herself under some semblance of control, Aset stood and ignored the medic’s mumbling about being escorted to the infirmary for x-rays and the like. “No,” she replied, “No, I’ll get any necessary x-rays at the compound. After all, my dear Tensho and I have work to do.” With that, she stalked off, limping only slightly and trying very hard to not throw up and to not pass out. She felt quite dizzy and it was making her sick.
Carefully, Aset glanced behind her at Ryu. “Well, come on, Ryu. Don’t stand there gaping like a drowned kitten. There’s inventory to be taken, equipment to be tested, and soldiers to be given a little extra encouragement from their two...lovely commanding officers,” she said with a grin, quoting Ryu’s own words from earlier that day, though she had no idea how she remembered them so well.
Taking in the appearance of both lovely commanding officers, Aset let out a light laugh that made her head spin and ribs scream. “Yes, Ryu, their two lovely, water and blood soaked officers. Our entrance really would be more amusing if you were still covered in mud, darling.” She laughed again despite the pain. It was all just too funny and she knew the futility in trying not to laugh. The only time she was ever successful at it was while she was working, which she wasn’t…yet.
Aset took off toward the compound again, not bothering to see of Ryu was following yet. She briefly wondered what the medics would have to say to all their comrades and colleagues. Oh the rumors that would be flying tomorrow.
They were in so much trouble.

Immediately Ryuichi was marching off after Aset, concern for the Chiso overriding her own irritation with Shihihoukousen. The bastard. Even now he used his influence to block her attempts at dispelling the water stubbornly clinging to her.
"Aset," she said, voice lacking the keen, militaristic edge it so often held, "I know and respect your position and strength, but I think even a General at this point would take things back a step. I know we have duties and you're as devoted as I am, but you really ought prioritize yourself for the moment." She plucked the glasses from her nose to bite lightly on the end of one of the ear-pieces. "Yes, there were things to be done today but waiting 24-hours will hardly trigger doomsday. I can take inventory on my own, we can postpone meeting with the new cadets until after supper this evening when they'll all be together anyways, and the new equipment... Well, I think testing high-power weaponry right now might be a bit too strenuous. Yes, we heal quicker and have higher pain tolerance than normal humans beings, but when we have the chance to properly heal-"
Again she felt Houkou silence her, somehow managing to keep from lashing out at her unruly kamui. You're becoming a waterfall of wasted words, Ryu.
Ryuichi could feel him moving as though her dragon had decided to join their plane, ripples of his natural tohsu following in a lazy wake behind him. Again the cool brush of ghost-scales, this time rasping gently against her calf, thigh, back, over her shoulder and along her neck, arching out towards Aset.
The Tensho wondered if she should warn Aset that her kamui seemed intent on synchronizing his waves with her own to speak directly to her as Shula did. It was rare to hear another's kamui unless agreed upon by the tohsu-wielders, and Ryu was incredibly surprised that Shihihoukousen would even consider touching Aset's mind uninvited.
No. He can reap whatever he sows.
It was the least she could do after his 'help'.
Ryu wondered if it was actually audible, or just something she and Aset could hear when Houkou's waves matched and melded with Aset's. It hissed like steam, sending an erratic pulse through Ryu's chest. The Tensho stopped, unable to help the wariness in her gaze as she watched for Aset's reaction.
Shihihoukousen noticed the frown on the bluenette's lips was a bit more upset than usual, returning his attention to the fiery woman. Cautiously he let out a soft purr, the smallest sound to gently alert Aset of his sudden proximity. Chiso. he rumbled, keeping his 'voice' respectful.
Forgive my rude intrusion. I mean well, and hope merely to save you listening to my mistress' endless, worried floundering. But yes, she has a point. Were it any of your soldiers, perhaps even Ryu, in your position I feel you might order them to at least somewhat lessened duties. And on behalf of NoA, I ask their Chiso to set an example for her underlings in knowing the importance of one's own health. So, please, Milady Chiso, heed your injuries. Pride saves no lives, and even duty has it's place.
The dragon purred again, a placating noise meant to appease if he had offended. I rather dislike seeing one bright as yourself in any amount of pain. Ryuichi means well and there is sense somewhere in what she asks.
For the first time in a very, very long while... Ryu couldn't hear Houkou. The cold, deep-water pressure of his had disappeared from where he had been twined around his mistress, Leaving Ryuichi feeling quite....
Quite what?
Weightless. she decided. And not in a way I much enjoy. Shifting her weight to one hip, she waited, half expecting to feel her kamui come whiplashing back with a rather burnt tail between his legs.

Aset heard a sound. Was that a purr? She felt Shula stiffen in fury moments before she felt a brush of…..scales?
Forgive my rude intrusion.
Not bloody likely, Shula cut in furiously.
Aset barely heard the rest of his speech she was so shocked. Shihihoukousen? Ryu’s Shihihoukousen?
She tuned back in when he said, So, please, Milady Chiso, heed your injuries. Pride saves no lives, and even duty has its place. I rather dislike seeing one bright as yourself in any amount of pain. Ryuichi means well and there is sense somewhere in what she asks.
Aset had been so surprised by Houkou’s visit she had forgotten what Ryuichi had even said. Shula took advantage of the Aset’s distraction and Houkou’s waiting silence to cut into him….or burn into him.
How dare you, water dragon? How dare you invade our minds and violate our privacy? Shula lashed out at Houkou with more than just words. Aset could feel the temperature around her rise as Shula’s temper did.
Hey, Aset, how does roast dragon sound for dinner tonight? Shula asked menacingly.
Uhhhhh, Maybe some other night, Shula. Aset sat down on the ground abruptly. If she was going to be concentrating on an internal conversation and a battle between a water and fire Kamui in her mind, she’d need to not be distracted by things like walking……and standing.
Shula, honey, how about you calm down a bit, Houkou meant no offense here-
He’s right too, you stubborn idiot, Shula grumbled.
- and I think this could be a wonderful opportunity to get to know our working partners a little better, Aset continued as if Shula had said nothing.
Shula’s temper flared again as she lashed out at Shihihoukousen once more.
Houkou, maybe you should go back to Ryu. Don’t worry, I’ve had enough excitement for one day, I think I’m ready for a nap of the long variety, but I would love to talk with you again. Plot a little misery for Ryuichi maybe? Aset flashed a wicked grin in Ryu’s direction at the thought of the Tensho’s Kamui and fellow commander planning pranks for her to walk into.
Shula was still fuming, Aset was trying to ignore her but it wasn’t working. What with fire flashing at her hands and blazing through her hair in short bursts and with the air snapping around her. Aset sighed inwardly and sent a silent plea to Shula to simmer a bit which she did reluctantly. But Shula simmering is still a rather frighteningly powerful mood for the Kamui.
She got to her feet again, a bit unsteadily and faced Ryu with a fake defeated posture. Sounding every bit the petulant child, she put a full on pout and said, “Fine, Ryu, I’ll rest and relax and whatever else you insist I do. There’s really no reason for you to take inventory alone, though. I am more than capable of sitting at a desk and writing down what you tell me is there…..I think. And then I’ll go take a nap and wake up for dinner if that’s what you want. You’re right, I shouldn’t completely ignore my injuries, but I also don’t need to be babied. I appreciate your concern, and I recognize your point, but I had not thought that you would so quickly shed the mantle of commander no matter who was injured and what the situation was.
Now, let’s go take that inventory, shall we? And hopefully nothing untoward will happen while we’re at it.”

She was torn between fear and embarrassment. To have her kamui, such a strong spirit and bonded with a Commander no less, carelessly brush aside all decorum and tact.... It made Ryuichi curl her fingers into tight fists, mouth twisting into a scowl and eyes darkening behind her glasses.
Aset was obviously surprised. Well, who wouldn't be, having another kamui barge into your mind? Sparks and fire flashed around her, obvious indication of Shula's upset if not Aset's. The Chiso sat abruptly, creasing a line of worry on Ryu's brow as she spared a thought for the injuries.
What was most disconcerting was the quiet, the sudden warmth, the increased awareness of how dry and light everything seemed to be. It made the Commander shift unconsciously, nervously toying with a piece of still-wet hair. It was hard not to miss him, feel quite incomplete without that presence tat had been with her for as long as she cared to remember....
Houkou's return was something akin to being splashed, the water of his presence much warmer than usual. The smell of hot metal irritated Ryu's nose, a frown creasing her mouth. Despite the obvious stern reprimand Shula had undoubtedly imparted, Shihihoukousen seemed unduly pleased, settling his ethereal coils comfortably around his mistress in an attempt to placate her obviously fouled mood.
You got burned, scales-for-brains. she snapped.
He purred, the sound erratic as he fought back laughter. Such is bound to happen when playing with fire, my dear.
Ryu shook her head, sighing in irritation and rubbing the bridge of her nose. It was no use trying to get anything out of the kamui when he was in such a mood. The Tensho gave Aset an apologetic look, declining her head slightly. "My apologies on behalf of my wayward kamui. He's a bit thickheaded."
Well I will admit my skull is rather sturdy what with all that bone and scales to top it off-
Ignoring the dragon, which only sent him purring louder and making water shimmer in the air again, Ryu took a step nearer to Aset but kept a bit of distance in case Shula be tempted. The redhead was pouting, shoulders slumped in apparent defeat.
A grin quirked Ryu's lips at how ill-suited the expression was on Aset Sharai. With a crisp nod and widening smile Ryuichi set of towards the storage facilities at a pace that wouldn't jar Aset's ribs. "Inventory it is, then, Commander. I'll try to chose a route without stairs."
